Jesus Christ exhibited a divine paradox of the lion and the lamb. He was the Lion in majesty, rebuking the winds and demons. He was the Lamb in meekness, “who when he was reviled, reviled not again” (1 Pet. 2:23). He was the Lion in power, raising the dead. He was the Lamb in patience who was “brought… to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth” (Isa. 53:7). He was the Lion in authority, “Ye have heard that it hath been said … but I say unto you” (Mt. 5:18,20,22). He was the Lamb in gentleness, “Suffer the little children to come unto me” (Mt. 19:14).
