Class 1

Class 1 of “The BIG PICTURE of the Bible” bible study with host Matt Wallin.

These classes are done live every Tuesday night at 8:00pm Eastern Time and then edited and posted here as quickly as possible after that.

Summary of Week 1

-Genesis 1 and 2 is the story of creation. But if we look a little bit deeper it’s about something more important.

-The name of God is mentioned 32 times in 31 verses. It’s as if God is saying, let Me tell you something about Myself.

-Genesis 1 and 2 are more about the Creator than the creation!

-There are some things you can learn without a Bible

-Nature is a revelation of God. Nature is important, but it is limited. It can show us the face of God, but not the mind of God.

-We can search nature, but only the Holy Spirit can search the mind of God. Nature says God is. The Bible, given by the Holy Spirit, tells us, “God said.”

Where do we usually divide the Bible?

Old Testament | New Testament

Another way: Patriarchal, Mosaic, Christian

There is another way to divide it. Outline blank 1 Genesis 1 and 2 – The world before sin

-Genesis 1: God and Perfection

-Genesis 2: Man and Innocence

There is harmony between God’s role and man’s role

There was grace in a perfect world

Grace comes with a responsibility Grace and law are not enemies.

They do not negate each other.

They complement each other.

There has always been law, in each time period Obedience to God is not legalism.

Submission to the will of God does not do away with grace. Obedience is love moving faith to accept God’s grace.

The place of Genesis 1 and 2 was a perfect place.

The place of Revelation 21 and 22 will be a perfect place.
