Keep Your Theology Out of My Biology

Topic(s): Science

So said the bumper sticker, as if they were enemies. The same God who created life (biology), also gave His word (Theology) (Genesis 1; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

You’ve heard of the college student, who upon hearing the theory of evolutionary origins explained, spoke to a bug in the laboratory by saying,

Hush little bed bug, don’t you cry,
You’ll be a June bug by and by,
And in maybe a million years or more,
You’ll be a college sophomore.

Another said,

Once I was a tadpole just a beginning to be,
Then I was a toad frog with movement so free,
Next I was a monkey on a bamboo tree,
But now I’m a teacher with a Ph.D.

Without the Bible, we are unable to draw any line of distinction between men and animals. Two young men in Illinois once took little Bobby Franks and killed him as an experiment. Clarence Darrow defended the young men and insisted that they were not responsible for their deed. He said they had been taught that men have descended from animals and to them their experiment was no more than killing a cat in the laboratory. He charged that the teaching they had had was responsible. The young men should have been punished but their teachers ought to have been punished, too.

Why should boys and girls be taught that men and animals are the same? I want my little boy to go to college but I would much prefer that he would have to learn his ABCs after arriving in heaven than that he should be in hell speaking in fifteen different languages.

“For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” —Exodus 20:11
