The upper room was simply that -- a floor above ground level.
Why did Jesus choose an upper room? Perhaps to maintain privacy as
He was about to share the Passover with His disciples and have a few
hours with them before His betrayal. As we know, Jesus had just
entered Jerusalem to great fanfare (Matthew 21), and everywhere He
went, he always drew a crowd (Mark 2).
