Topic(s): Denominationalism
Todd Clippard
Walter Martin's classic work, Kingdom of the Cults, has
been revised and can be obtained at most religious bookstores and
online. Mead's Handbook of Denominations in the United States
is a standard work that is readily available. From these two books,
you could identify religious bodies, including some considered
"mainstream," that have cult-like characteristics and others who are
listed as cults by watchdog agencies.
A word of caution is in order. Mr. Martin’s work is also a platform
for him to teach his own views on how to be saved, etc. He did not
believe what the Bible teaches in this regard. Therefore, one must
be careful when using his work.
