The teaching that the establishment of the church took place
somewhere around the year A.D. 33 is based upon a couple of
premises:
1) Jesus was baptized and began His public ministry when He was
about 30 years old (Luke 3:21-23); and . . .
2) According to the chronology revealed in the New Testament, Jesus'
earthly ministry covered about three years.
The problem with trying to fix the date at A.D. 33 is that most
scholars now believe Jesus was born about 4 years earlier than when
the modern calendar was instituted. Therefore, in relation to our
present calendar, Jesus was born in 4 B.C.
