Topic(s): Bible Authority, Eternity & Judgment
Todd Clippard
The word "soul" as used in the Bible often corresponds with the
word "spirit." Man's soul is that non-perishable part of his makeup
which shall receive the eternal reward or punishment for things done
in the body.
John 4:24 says God is a spirit, therefore, God has no flesh and
blood which is subject to decay. By His very nature, God is eternal
(Psalm 90:2), thus no additional spiritual makeup is necessary for
Him to live forever.
I suggest you obtain a copy of Strong's Exhaustive Concordance (with
Hebrew and Greek Dictionary) and a Vine's dictionary to help you
distinguish the differences (if present) in the words soul and
spirit as used in the Bible. These reference works can be purchased
online or in a bookstore for less than $20 each
