Topic(s): Christian life, Nature of Man
Todd Clippard
It is technically possible for men to live without
sin. Sin comes when we give in to lust and temptation - James
1:12-16. However, with every temptation, God provides a way of
escape - 1 Corinthians 10:13. Therefore, there is always an
alternative to committing sin.
Having said that, we will not be perfect in seeking out and pursuing
God's course for deliverance from temptation. This is precisely why
sin is what it is. It is missing the mark set before us by God. If
we had no other course than to commit sin, then God would not be
justified in punishing us for doing something wherein we had no
choice.
It should also be noted that even Christians will sin following
their conversion. The following passages uphold this truth: Acts
8:9-24; 1 John 1:5-10; 1 John 2:1-2; 2 Corinthians 7:10. There are
many others that could be cited, but this should be sufficient to
make the case.
