Bible question

How does one reach out to a homosexual?

Todd Clippard

Topic(s): Evangelism, Gospel

There is only one way to reach any person, whether he is a homosexual, an adulterer, a fornicator, idolater, drunkard, etc, and that is to teach him the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 -- look at the sins those Christians had formerly committed and lived in.  It's some pretty bad stuff (some worse than others . . . in our eyes), but all were changed by the message of the cross of Jesus Christ (1 Cor 1:17-30).

The preachers in the book of Acts pointed their audience to Jesus Christ.  This is true of:

Peter -- Acts 2:22-36; 3:11-26; 4:1-4; 4:5-12; 5:25-32; 10:34-43

Stephen -- Acts 6:8; Acts 7:51-53

Philip -- Acts 8:5; Acts 8:35

Paul -- Acts 9:1-22; Acts 13:14-39

Like the early preachers, we must first show forth the attributes of Jesus in our own lives.  People need to see that we have "been with Jesus" so to speak (Acts 4:13).  Only then can we teach them the saving message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

When one genuinely considers the life, sacrifice, and authority of Jesus (Luke 6:46; Matthew 7:21-27; Matthew 28:18-20), they will be willing to forsake any sin standing between them and the Lord.
