(V) The Truth About Drinking
by
Don Blackwell
The New Testament does not contain specific commands for every action we are forbidden from taking, but it does include principles for judging which actions we must refrain from.
However, the New Testament does prohibit any recreational drinking of alcohol. Even drinking small amounts of alcohol can cause serious health problems and addiction. Jesus neither made nor drank alcoholic wine. And deacons are not permitted to drink a little bit of alcohol just because they are commanded not to drink excessively.
